   I’m glad to hear you understand that you can’t make money overnight, contrary to what you might be hearing from people trying to sell you useless stuff.

   Idea 1 would work – that is definitely the long term strategy to success. But you need to work at it for a while to build up an income and how much depends on what you are selling.

   What you earn is related to the number of visitors. If you have 1,000 visitors a day and 1% clicked a google ad, that would be 10 a day at say $.50 a click = $5 a day = less than $2,000 a year. So check the figures – how many people do you need to buy products from you per day to give you $100,000? The more visitors you need to do this, the more investment you need and the harder you have to work.

   I would suggest you develop a couple of products of your own – but get the website started first and see where you think a new product could fit in (the sooner you start the website the sooner you can retire!).

   This subject is vast and there is no quick fix, just like any other business. You need to spend a lot of research time deciding what online business to start and how to do it. You may need several websites to make the money you want. But start one first, make some mistakes and learn from them and don’t give up your day job yet.

   As to your second suggestion, I don’t get it so can’t comment. But again, it would all depend on the traffic and how you promote the website.

   Don’t quit your day job, until you have proven you can do something on the web part time that makes some token amount of money, say 4 figures, as proof of the feasibility of the approach. I would not be surprised to hear than one in 100 people who get into making money on the internet ever reach 6 figures. (Actually that could turn out to be only 1 in 1000)

   One adsense expert proposed making an adequate living by creating 100 conventional niche sites with a total of 100,000 pages of content. Expect an adsense income averaging less than one cent per visitor, requiring more than 10 million visitors to earn your 100k. It can take months for some niche sites to reach the 100 visitors a day milestone.
   Adsense is one of the easier to set up, but lower paying ad forms, some webmasters get their ‘pocket change’ from adsense, other forms of paid advertising, pay better, affiliate marketing with a site optimized for the specific product being promoted might be the best paying approach.

   Sorry, I don’t get the gift card concept, my local stores have racks of gift cards for dozens of retailers sold at face value. I do see gift free gift card or shiny gadget offers that are the bait for a marketing lead scheme that requires people to jump through many hoops including paying for product trials in order to collect the gift card.

   Many of the affiliate marketing successes are helping to market how to succeed in affiliate marketing courses, produced by gurus in an old boys network who cross promote one another. Their courses often teach tat a higher income is made fro marketing your own product rather than someone else’s.

   Perhaps the quickest money is made on the internet by promoting CPA offers, those diet, tooth whitening, akai berry promotions that pop up unexpectedly are examples of CPA products. There are multi thousand dollar course by CPA insiders that teach you the system, including “Arbitrage Conspiracy”, the “CPA Ninja” course is a mere $997. CPA marketing takes a bit of a gambler/stock trader mentality, typically they have a month or more of income tied up in advertising outlays at any one time. One often graduates to CPA marketing after mastering affiliate marketing, CPA networks will usually phone interview prospective marketers, mainly to root out those who employ too many shady tactics.

   Many ebooks and training courses created by affiliate marketers, etc. who have moved on to create their own product show up on clickbank.com, one good selling course, apparently a one man operation, Maverick Money Makes is promoted in many answers here by graduates of his course, which constantly reminds students to promote his product first. He touches on various marketing techniques, the material seems ok, some critique some of it for being a bit dated. Searching for it on the internet will result in thousands of affiliate sites giving it glowing reviews.
   If the Maverick thing were a trade school course, than Stompernet would be the internet commerce university, they have a ‘faculty’ of specialists and some 2000+ instruction videos, originally costing some $800/mo, their current basic membership is $197/mo. The Q&A section of some of their seminar recordings show a strong presence of successful brick and mortar store operators looking to quickly expand to online marketing. You could learn a lot of the basics from one of the under $100 video courses on clickbank, the stopmper materials might speed the learning required to reach that 6 figures.
   Some would advise you to just buy a couple of books and spend a lot of time on affiliate marketing forums, reading whatth people in the trenches are doing.

   Here’s my best advice, just realize that you don’t have to quit your day job to really it make it online. Many jump into the affiliate marketing game too quickly especially when quitting their day time jobs which is usually their biggest source of income. In any case, the affiliate online niche is really the best and most profitable one to get into online, mainly for these three reasons:

   1. You don’t need your own Product. By being an affiliate, you can promote high converting offers from other online marketers with nothing out of pocket.

   2. Very cost effective to get started. Yes, although it’s true that many affiliates have made it big with ppc campaigns, there are quite another number that gets very good results with Free trafffic driving campaigns.

   3. Online Gurus love affiliates. This why most online gurus love affiliates and pay them so handsome for it, affiliates give them leverage and help them market their product which is a win-win situation.

   I myself have gotten into affiliate programs for a while and although i’ve been through many, I found one that absolutely helps me to deliver and run some very clever ad and review campaigns as an affiliate.    Hi there,
   Most people expect to start making money online fast by doing next to nothing and these are the people that mostly fall for the scams because they are expecting to make big money by doing nothing and I’m sorry to tell you but you can’t!! Don’t get me wrong people do make money online and there are ways to make big amounts of money online but it takes time and effort and usually an investment. I recently joined a company that allows you to work from home and in 1 month I have managed to make a residual income of $350 and that is growing. It’s not loads but its a great start!
